Call to Arms: Medieval Warrior

This is a mock up picture I made about a game I would love to see, if the name reminds you of Call of Duty its because its intended.

When gamers think of medieval times, they think of fantasy settings (dragons, elves, magic, etc) instead of the historical human period. However that isn't so, and the middle ages are filled with rich history that would be nice to see in video game form, from politics, religion and social topics of the time.

What kind of game might Call to Arms (CtA) be? well, the basic premise is to make a First Person Combat game with medieval weaponry. In shooters you have your assault rifle, bazooka and grenades, but in CtA you have swords, bows and throwing axes.

The closest games to take this approach have been fantasy oriented, like Oblivion and Might and Magic Dark Messiah, but there is another one, a Half Life mod called Age of Chivalry which is by far the closest.

I think that a game like this could be very interesting, the experience would definitely be very different, much more up close combat, assaulting enemy castles and taking part in tournaments or arenas. You could even customize your load outs depending on what you want to use, do you want to carry a sword and a shield? a two handed axe? daggers? or how about a crossbow?

There is potential for a solid game like this, if done well, but until someone gives it a try, Ill keep dreaming about it.

What do you think?
